Metro Supply Chain Group Inc. (“Metro”) announced today that Heiner Murmann has accepted an invitation to join the company’s advisory board. Mr. Murmann has over 20 years’ experience in logistics across the Americas, Europe and Asia. He spent the better part of his career at DB Schenker, one of the top three global logistics companies with revenues in excess of EUR 15 billion. He served as CEO for the Americas before becoming a member of the Board of Management, overseeing Air and Ocean Freight. During his tenure, Mr. Murmann’s focus remained on delivering high value customer solutions through continuous transformation and repositioning as well as mergers and acquisitions.

In his advisory role, Mr. Murmann will work closely with Metro’s management team to help steer strategic growth in all markets with an emphasis on the company’s expanding international operations.

Metro founder and CEO, Chiko Nanji, is thrilled to bring Mr. Murmann onto the team as his company continues to grow its service offering: “I’ve known Heiner for over 30 years. I always admired the vision he had for DB Schenker in the global marketplace and his ability to execute on that vision.”

“It’s great to get Heiner on board,” says Martin Graham, Metro’s Group President. “He joins at an important point in the development of our business as it pushes into new verticals and services and strengthens its international presence.”

“Metro Supply Chain Group is always in a process of reimagining itself and what logistics can do. I respect the company’s clear vision and entrepreneurial spirit and the opportunity these qualities bring in terms of developing innovative customer solutions,” explains Murmann while discussing his interest in taking on this new role. “That’s what keeps logistics exciting for me.”
