Senior Manager – Equipment and Facilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Equipment and Facilities will be responsible for the Groups strategy and management of materials handling equipment solutions and property mechanical and facility systems and other facility matters in accordance to our corporate programs. He/she will evaluate equipment solutions, makes corporate recommendations on specific equipment, services and vendors, and manages the installation and governance of equipment utilization in partnership with Operational VP’s in line with agreed budgets and Group standards.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Regular facilities audits will be conducted for continuous improvement purposes, preventative maintenance reviews and vendor/operations expense management

·         Management of national vendor contracts (i.e. MHE, racking, security, garbage, etc.) to ensure services are delivered as specified in SOW and costs are in line with agreed budgets and ultimately deliver on operational requirements

·         Ensure all equipment and MHE are utilized efficiently and effectively and make recommendation for improvements as necessary

·         Developing and maintaining detailed costs database for operational budgeting and trending of equipment and facilities expenses to set benchmarks and aid in effective cost management within this area of the business

·         Development of best practice applications and standards for equipment and facility systems. This includes the communication and training of said best practice programs throughout the organization.

·         Supporting Procurement in tendering and managing suppliers

·         Supporting implementation of the above directly or through PMO

·         Manages and oversees the facilities including preventive and predictive maintenance, major repairs, building services and installation of equipment to ensure continuous operations.

·         Assists in developing capital budgets. Actual costs to be reported against budget estimates.

·         Provides a regular (i.e. monthly) equipment order summary detailing unit description, monthly lease/purchase rates, purchase terms and expiry dates, maintenance rates, book value, and any client contract information. The purpose of regular updates are to ensure Equipment/MHE orders are aligned with corporate strategy and capital budget spends.

·         Develops detailed specifications and expectations for the supply and installation of equipment, maintenance contracts, and facility services.

·         Develops and manages Request of Proposals (RFPs) to procure services and/or equipment.

·         Provides vendor and service provider RFP evaluations and recommendations.

·         Monitors and audits vendor services to ensure alignment with contractual agreements.

·         Develops, monitors and coordinates payment schedules for the supply and implementation of equipment and services.

·         Manages all associated permit requirements and safety regulations.

·         Manages all related Pre-Start Health and Safety audits and regulatory requirements.

 

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·         Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience.

·         A minimum of 10 years work experience in facility maintenance and construction.

·         Experience working in Logistics or Supply Chain environments

·         Mechanical Systems

·         Material Handling and/or Lift Equipment

·         Experience working with trades

·         Property Management

·         Procurement and/or Vendor Management

·         Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Smartsheets (Project Management tools), and various database applications.
