The Metro Supply Chain Group of Companies is a leading Canadian based provider of third party logistics services. We have been in business for more than 40 years and currently operates over 40 sites across Canada, the United States and Europe with over 6,000 team members. We are looking for a senior logistics expert to take on the role of General Manager, responsible for leadership and management of a complex operation for our Aspect Retail Logistics Inc. division located at our 1400 Church Street, Pickering, Ontario, L1W 4C1.
In this permanent role and reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the General Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, evaluation and performance of the distribution center, including Operations, Customer Service, Human Resources, Information Technology, Office Support and Finance. In conjunction with the senior management team, the GM will be responsible for establishing budgets, formulating strategic business plans and accountable for achieving business objectives (i.e. ‘Our Way’ culture program, productivity, customer service, KPI’s, etc).
The successful candidate will benefit from extensive experience in running a large, complex distribution center of 1 million square feet or greater with over 500 employees. Must have proven leadership, coaching and mentoring skills. Extensive experience with establishing annual performance objectives, annual budgets, business plans and delivering the strategies and plans required to meet the company’s growth objectives. Must have proven experience in analyzing and reviewing financial, labour, operational, and administrative reports and plans on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Will be responsible for maintaining a strong team culture with extensive experience in positive Labour Relations and Collective Bargaining. The General Manager will foster and maintain the key relationship with the customer in order to meet and exceed expectations and to ensure clarity of direction on cost, quality, productivity, and service goals. Hosts monthly General Meetings with all team members on all shifts. Responsible for maintaining company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, and health and safety.
The ideal candidate will have proven leadership within a large scale and complex distribution center with a Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or Operations Management, Logistics or a related field with minimum 10 years of experience in a Supply Chain Leadership role. Grocery sector and senior level experience working for Third Party Logistics (3PL) company is a must with a minimum of 7 years in depth knowledge and experience with grocery supply chain/logistics processes, warehouse management systems, best practices and implementing process improvements. We offer a competitive benefit package which includes, Health, Dental, Vision and RRSP/DPSP plan. Salary for this position be commensurate with experience, with the wage range being between $110,000-$135,000 CAN per year with bonus potential based on achieved targets.
